Background:

The Group Strategy team is charged with leading strategy development for the Group and ensuring the proper the cascade and coordination with the various teams (Group and OpCo).

The Strategy team is a small, agile and flat organization. This role will be a key member of the strategy team, working with the GCSO and engaging with key stakeholders (Group and OpCos) to support strategy development and the strategic engagement processes.

  • Drive the development and articulation a clear direction and strategy for the Group (Portfolio, OpCos and head office) to ensure long term sustainability and shareholder value creation
  • Support the annual Strategic Business Planning process to drive the alignment of Group and OpCo strategies and objectives
  • Support the development and deployment of performance management tools (via KPIs scorecards) to ensure Group Executives and OpCos CEOs are aligned with company objectives
  • Lead strategy projects and research to support initiatives of the Group strategy or OpCos
  • Develop and share knowledge to better prepare the organization to manage key market and industry risks
  • Advise the Group Management team on key strategic issues
Role Profile:

The role is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Support the development and articulation of the Group’s vision, mission, strategy and objectives
  • Drive strategy communications (internal and external cascade) to ensure adoption and alignment
  • Be proactive ‘thought leader’ in identifying, researching and evangelizing strategic projects / opportunities
  • Establish 3-5 “Market Outlook” for OpCo markets. Lead in the development, and alignment with the OpCo management team, around Group Shareholder Expectations for OpCos
  • Monitor and report on strategy execution across the Group
  • Support Group-wide strategic planning process in coordination with Group functions
  • Support in reviewing OpCo strategies in close coordination with Group functions
  • Support in reviewing OpCo strategic and financial plans in coordination with Group functions
  • Support in advising the Group Board, Chairman, CEO, CSO and other CxOs on operating companies’ performance and provide suggestions on operating company strategy and methods of improving results
  • Anchor strategic, financial and operational targets and KPIs in close coordination with Group functions. Support the development of GCEO, GCXO and OpCo CEOs KPIs and support OpCos for OG/OpCo alignment on OpCo CXOs scorecards
  • Support in keeping the Group Board of Directors informed and aware of strategic issues and trends impacting the Group
  • Conduct financial and benchmark Group’s performance vis-à-vis peer Groups and Operators
  • Conduct research on evolution of key markets and industries, changes in the macro-economic situation, the emergence of new (disruptive) technologies and other key trends to assess the potential impact on the Ooredoo Groups business
Experience:

Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge

  • 10+ years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified oh which minimum of 3-4 years in a leading strategy consulting firm and minimum of 2 - 3 years is in the telecom environment is preferable
  • Previous experience in two or more work environments
  • Experience working in a group’s strategy or planning unit is a plus – within a telecom group a strong plus
  • Ability to engage with senior business leaders
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to collect data, establish facts, and structure valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret financial and technical reports
  • Extensive knowledge of the telecommunications industry
  • Experience in international/ emerging markets
  • Experience with strategy or planning development
  • Strong PowerPoint presentation and Excel modeling skills
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree
  • Fluent English - Arabic and French is a plus
